Advocacy Day at Capitol Hill - February 6th, 2008

Agenda

Issue Briefing: 11:00am – 11:30am
Bring the smart growth message to Capitol Hill. This briefing will provide you with all the information you need to discuss critical issues, such as climate change, transportation, and affordable housing. You will get detailed talking points and a thorough understanding of the status of pending legislation.

Advocate Training Luncheon: 11:30am – 12:30pm
The Advocacy Day luncheon will give insider advice on how to influence elected officials. Come discover techniques for increasing your effectiveness as an advocate for smart growth policy with Members of Congress and their staff. This training will give you the skills and confidence you need for effective advocacy meetings. All the logistical details for the advocacy day visits will be covered.

Capitol Hill Meetings: 1:00pm – 5:30pm
Meetings will be scheduled for you with your Representative and Senators. You will receive a complete, personalize itinerary for your congressional visits. In addition, you will receive a full packet of smart growth materials for your visit to Capitol Hill.

Debriefing: 5:30pm – 6:00pm
Reception: 6:00pm – 7:00pm

Join other smart growth advocates for a celebration of the day’s success. You can share insights and perspectives from your visits with others and discuss the issues with your fellow advocates.

Just complete the free registration to participate. Your meetings will be scheduled and you will receive complete scheduling, issue briefing, and advocacy training support. In addition, you will be able to download and access a variety of online resources in advance of the conference to prepare you for your advocacy day visits. Registrants will get more information on the smart growth advocacy day online classroom and advance web training materials.
